That should be sufficient.

I don't think it's all that different.

IIRC, your exported directories must be marked browsable before they will
show up in network neighborhood. Also watch capitalization. I've seen that
foul things up before.

I think so. It also can help if the windows boxes have their own lmhosts
file.

One thing to make sure of is that the netbios names and the dns names match
exactly. Otherwise there is a flag that must be set in the config file.

Quite honestly, my Samba Server has been up for 2-3 years now, through
various revisions. I haven't kept up to date on the various changes. If
this is a new install, the default Debian config file may contain flags for
options I have not encountered.

It's about 15 minutes, normally. However if you restart the browse master
(hopefull it's "zeppelin") the workgroup should update.

Ah Ha! It's a config file problem. There is now an option to limit what
interfaces the Samba server listens on. It looks like that parameter is in
the services portion of the config file, rather than at the top in the
server portion.

You are on a subnet right? IIRC,You have to define the network/netmask in
the config file. Also if you have more than one network card, you have to
define which interface to listen on.

> Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or where else to look for clues?

Go back an read the samba man page. I think you have all the clues, you
just have to put in the right flags in the conf file.
