No.  There are Win 3.x winmodems, as I mentioned in a previous e-mail.

Many winmodems also have built-in speakers.  (USR Winmodems for instance)

If it is jumpered, it __most likely__ is hardware based, or a very old
winmodem.  You're _probably_ safe.
