Hallelujah!  Good to know I haven't permanently hosed the Windows
partition.  I think "fdisk /mbr" is within my competence, although just
barely.  :-)

I might understand what you are saying there.  If I type "lilo" at the
command prompt, will I be installing lilo, not launching it, right?

Your implication is that my lilo.conf file is probably fine.  If I wipe
clean the master boot record and reinstall lilo, then everything will
work.  I can do this.

If this doesn't work, then I assume my lilo.conf file is not valid, right?

Heh, that would mean I have to stop playing gnuchess long enough to get
PPP working.  :-)  But I will take that as a next step if a simple
reinstall of lilo does not work.
