Well, I'm back to trying to install Debian since my RH 5.1 doesn't like my
P5-133 for some reason. I've gotten farther than ever, but I'm stuck in
dselect now. I tried to install one of the pre-defined packages, but it
blew chunks and I had to back it out. I figured out what the problem was
but have to go into dselect now or else go through the complete
installation again (at least it looks that way). When I start dselect it
asks me about adding or removing elements but, since it quit before the
install was complete, all that's installed it the basic text stuff.
Anyway, I told it to install everything but now there seems to be some
depenency problems. I went through the review process but can't seem to
get out of it. I get to where I think it's going to install and send it on
its merry way. It comes back quickly and says the install was successful.
But, when I try to find anything that it was supposed to install, I come up
empty. Should I start over? Also, the instructions for 2.1 are much
better than the ones for 2.0. Are they essentially the same procedure or
has there been a major change rendering them incompatible with 2.0
installations? If that's the case, what book is the one to buy for this?

This is annoying. I'm stuck in essentially the same place I was last fall.
Anyone have a magic spell to instill some intelligence into me?

Thx,
Jeff
