it will do the same thing plus start the install scripts.
at least on the older redhat 4.0
What I'm trying to do is install RH 5.1 on a machine
without a system. I
can deal with booting into dos with CD drivers enabled, but don't know
what
to do from there. Is line 4 below the actual installation invocation?
If
so it would have to be on the CD somewhere. Would that work?

forgive the dos fallback but you might try a autoexec.bat like this
on a
floppy:
rem echo off
c:
cd\linuc\
c:\linuc\loadlin c:\linuc\turbo\vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3
this assumes you have a dos partition. if not you could put every thing
on
the floppy.
you'll need the linux cd that you installed from.
create a directory to put everything in(linuc).
copy loadlin, and the kernel to it.
then run the batch or put with it.
good luck
