forgive the dos fallback but you might try a autoexec.bat like this on a floppy:

rem echo off
c:
cd\linuc\
c:\linuc\loadlin c:\linuc\turbo\vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3
 

this assumes you have a dos partition. if not you could put every thing on the floppy.

you'll need the linux cd that you installed from.
create a directory to put everything in(linuc).
copy loadlin, and  the kernel to it.

then run the batch or put with it.
