Do you have another machine with an IDE bus and cdrom. What I have done
several times with my laptop (no CDrom) is to take out the drive and put
it in another box. I do the install (except for hardware specific stuff)
then I put it back in the original machine. I haven't run into any
problems. I'm sure there are a plethera of reasons this is not a good
idea but like I said it works for me. Just a suggestion.
