This is curious. There's no reason to my knowledge why you can't connect
specfically to SouthWind. I followed John Goerzen's help page on the ACLUG
site, and it worked perfectly. I don't even have a major distribution of
Linux - I have LinuxPPC. I know several people (including a few SouthWind
employees) that connect to SouthWind with Linux as well. If you haven't
tried John's help page, go to (and print out):

Make sure everything is exactly the same, including all the other files.
This needs to be run from a console, but perhaps someone more qualified
than I can assist you further with a GUI connection method.
