I noticed that others have answered your question, but I have one for
you.

Why are you using guarddog.?   Is there something special about it that
makes it appealing?

Ipchains or iptables will do a superb job for most linux users and it
has been all I have used for almost 2 years. Never had a problem and I
don't need the bells and whistles of something like guarddog to tell me
the firewall is working.

I also use portsentry to monitor and block probes and tripwire to
monitor for changes that may occur if the firewall fails. Never had a
problem since I set it all up.
