i don't know about whistling, but when my drive(s) (5 total) went bad, i
heard this nasty aaaa....aaaaa....aaaaa....aaaa when accessing some
files... now and then if i listened carefully, it would sound like a pin
or something hitting against metal (i was told it was likely to be the
head hitting the hdd shell)... and of course the number of bad sectors
went up exponentially! scandisk (in dos) showed filenames with smiley
faces and carriage returns! personally, i agree w/ everyone else... if
it's under warranty, why not? will save the possibility of data loss and
the cost of a new drive if you wait until the warranty expires (if it's
any time soon)...
good luck!
