i'm sure you could find it on freshmeat.net...  once you download it,
untar/gz it and read the INSTALL, README, RELNOTES and any other text
files that would be of use...

however, i would reccommend using your distribution's packaging system to
upgrade gcc, since it's MUCH safer, especially in a distro based on
RPMs...  also, remember that 3.0 is a major release and most webpages with
articles on gcc-3.0 (along w/ the Slackware-8.0 ChangeLog) doesn't
reccommend using 3.0 yet, rather wait for 3.0.1 or another non-.0
release...
