It's just like a network connection. With roadrunner you are simply a DHCP
client tied into their network. I don't believe that you can get a static IP
through them although when I talked to them several months ago they were
working on offering that (for more money of course) You need an ethernet
card. I just started using linux (Mandrake 8.0) a couple of weeks ago and
don't know much about it, but I can tell you that the internet config was
ridiculously simple. I just selected my NIC during setup and linux took care
of rest.
