I didn't play with it yet, but I think PuTTY gives you a couple options on how to treat a backspace. I'm interested to know if you like either of the options it gives you.

The other thing I like about PuTTY is that it's a single executable file instead of a bunch of crap that gets installed in the registry and whatnot.

Next step is to play around with ssh.
