Thanks Jon--I was able to get the bin86 package and a couple of others I
needed using apt. It's a great tool. I was able to compile the kernel, the
latest modutils, and the loadable modules--without any compile-time errors.

So, I can now boot the kernel (and it seems to work ok), but I noticed
several error messages during the boot sequence that relate to missing
modules. Since the messages scroll off of the screen too quickly, I've been
trying to find where the debian boot messages get logged to, but with out
any success. /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/messages both have many of the
boot messages, but neither shows any sign of the module related errors.

Am I just looking in the wrong place, or is it possible that non-critical
warnings will be displayed but not logged?

Jeremy
