Alas, that's the problem.

Right now the OverbiteFF is only tested/running on Firefox 3.0 betas. There
will be a OverbiteFF for Firefox 2.0.0.x but not yet. In fact, I'm not
surprised it doesn't work well at all since I'm using some functionality
that doesn't even exist in Mozilla 1.8.

Fortunately, simply uninstalling OverbiteFF should restore Firefox 2 to
its previous functionality. You should also find and delete the
extensions.overbiteff.buildmark preference in about:config if it
persists, just to make things perfectly clean.
