I should say, it would return it within an HTTP message body, e.g.,
GET gopher://gopher.floodgap.com:70/1 HTTP/1.0
User-agent: sneaky-gopher-client
Connection: close
HTTP/1.0 200 Successfully Proxied
Content-type: application/gopher-menu
Content-length: ...
Server: prototype-groxy-baby/0.0
