Ok, it seems not to be problem of freeciv or gtk, but a big problem (or bug) of 
XFree-4.0.1 or of those NVidia-drivers 0.9.5. If i start my X, it takes about 
200 % of memery usage, but i have also 68 MB of RAM free. While playing freeciv 
the amount of free RAM decreases very fast. After a while the machine locks up 
because of swapping.
