What Jeff has said is correct. I build using Cygwin
(http://sourceware.cygnus.com). I've done some work
trying to get a native GTK build done as well, but
have run into problems trying to use gcc (mingw32) to
do the build. I don't own any commercial compilers
for Windows so I need to build everything with gcc.

I've heard of people having success with the
StarNet X Server (http://www.starnet.com). It has a
trial period where it will shut down the server after
one or two hours.

The MI/X server is only X11R5 and will not work.

The Cygwin XFree project has some free servers available
(check out the cygwin site above) but they are *very*
rough right now (probably alpha quality). They also
have a VNC X server built for Windows. I've built my
own VNC X server for Windows but have problems with it.

I run a commercial X server (Exceed) and it works well.

Regards,

Todd
