Thanks for posting about it. I guess it's better than not being mentioned
at all, but based on the following passage I don't think the guy who wrote
the article knows what he's talking about.
"Because Freeciv connects to a metaserver, it
allows users to connect to games across the
internet, something only recently added to the
latest titles in the Civ range (Civilization :
Call to Power). This has its advantages and
disadvantages - this feature is good as it
allows competitive internet play, but lacks when
you just want to have a game against the
computer - to do the latter, you find yourself
entering in numerous amounts of details into
the metaserver to get the game running. Freeciv
would benefit moreso by awknowledging the
single player aspect more directly, and again
this is coming from my experiences from the
original series."
In addition he doesn't give enough emphasis to the stability of the
internet play, as well as the numerous server options/rules that make
freeciv superior to the originals. And what's this talk about graphics? He
doesnt even seem to realize you can put your own pixmaps up, not to mention
the dozens premade ones available on the freeciv site. So that closes the
issue of graphics.... Oh well.
