Hello,

The developers had long been discussing moving the source tree from CVS to Subversion. The benefits will be less network traffic, hence speedier updates for you, plus faster operations with branches, so necessary for release stabilization.

You can find more information on how to access the source tree here: http://www.freeciv.org/index.php/Svn

Congratulations regarding your move to the better Subversion system.
I checked the above page and found that a hint regarding the use of

   svn co http://svn.gna.org/svn/freeciv/trunk freeciv

is still missing. The 'svn' or 'svn+ssh' protocols require that those proprietary ports are open which is not necessarily the case if you are behind a firewall or in a subnet.

The 'http' protocol is better suited, as it is commonly open and can be used via a proxy server.

Regards,

Guido
