You're right after all. I don't scale down very well.

Here's an attempt to make it more 'flag-like'. Added three horizontal 
stripes: Red for Denmark, yellow for Sweden and white for Norway, 
Iceland and Faeroes (the five modern viking-nations.) The longship 
itself is much more black, dark-greenish to contrast better against the 
background.

Am I getting closer?
