This should be fixed in the next beta.  However it's really hard for the 
developers to track down these types of problems because they only show 
up very rarely.  Make sure you test it with beta4 and let us know if 
there are any more problems.  You may also download the "daily snapshot" 
from the web site and use it in the meantime (and report any problems 
you have).

Also, what is the output of:

   civclient --version
   echo $LANG
