Well these are two different bugs. The first one has been discussed (and
reported) to occur with GTK 1.

Some people claimed this is a problem with drawing tiles. But from the
live experience of this (annoying) bug, that I 'enjoy' on my machine
here, I have the feeling that it is not. Something deeper in the client
core.

Your observation is another indication for this.
