libsocket and libnsl are linked in by the server but not AFAICT the
client.  But I guess we must be getting libsocket from somewhere.

You could try 'make CFLAGS="-lnsl"' to see what happens.  Or maybe
'CFLAGS="-lnsl" ./configure && make'.
