So, it does compile and seems to work as well as the previous version I 
was using, but there's often a bus error when a series of dialogs open 
at the same time. I'm not sure how to backtrace this, especially since 
it's not easily reproducible. Raimar Falke has helped me with a similar 
problem which seemed to be caused by the gcc3 I was using.
