Hi,

I got around to making a freeciv.pot today (around 18 GMT) for starting to
work on updating the stable version translation to be compatible to the
CVS one.

When making freeciv.pot, I was told that it couldn't find rules to make
two files,
  freeciv/client/agents/cma_fec.c
  freeciv/client/agents/cma_core.c
The problem went away when I touched them, but I was wondering if they're
removed yet still haunting some Makefile somewhere, or something else
which actually takes some attention to fix.

I also ran into plurals for the first time (msgid, msgid_plural). A
positive change as such, but I got a bit confused by it. Maybe the
Localization Mini-FAQ on http://www.freeciv.org/l10n.phtml should include
a question and answer for

"What am I supposed to do when I have a msgid and a msgid_plural entry,
and only one actually modifiable line called msgstr[0]?".

The answer might be 'update your gettext and <do something> again', or it
might be something else which I then have no clue about. Assuming this is
semi-normal behaviour and it's likely that many only half-clueful
translators like me are going to run into it, it might be worth the bother
to get it answered once and for all. ;)

The freeciv/po/check_po.pl at least seems to barf at the msgid_plural
(calling it Unexpected). It seems to me that it might want to be updated
if msgid_plurals are here to stay and it's just not a local problem of
mine.
