For same reasons I also prefer number keys to function keys. 
Alt- and ctrl-modifiers instead of shift- and ctrl-modifiers might be more
"portable". In any case, it seems that there's no perfect solution to the
problem.

Thanks. I have some more ideas about markers and their usage. I'll write
about them as soon as I get these little modifications done.
