Thanks to both Gregory and Jeff for pointing out the
"Connect Order" which offers:
Build Road To
Build Railroad To
Build Irrigation To
Build Fort To
It would be nice to document this in the manual/FAQ,
because:
(a) I didn't think the "Connect" order was obvious
(b) Its not very intuative because there is no UI feedback
Is the best way for me to do this, to ftp a
replacement HTML file to the incoming directory, or
just send a snippet containing the new paragraphs for
the webmaster to integrate?
i.e.
To build a road from current location to another point:
(1) Choose "Connect" order from menu (or press "C")
(2) Click destination
(3) Choose road from infrastructure list that pops up.
Improvements:
It would be nice to show the planned route (using the
onscreen line as done for the "Go To" order) and
estimated number of turns. However, the route
(and time) depends on the infrastructure.
e.g. roads and rail can be build over mountains,
irrigation cannot be.
This means that the infrastructure would have to be picked,
then the destination.
Thanks
Peter
