There are *limited* possibilities to shorten the translations, but
overall, languages like german will need more character space than
english. Just reserve some inches for the translators ;-)  e.g.
change a bunch of buttons into a popup menu.

Please take into account, the translations have to be clear for 
newbies, not for expierienced players like you.
