This looks like the same problem I had with Debian (sensible since
Corel is Debian-based), and the answer was actually "upgrade your
ncurses-dev pacakge", or similar.   See:

(The readline-dev 2.1-12 package fails to depend on the correct 
ncurses-dev package; more recent readline-dev packages fix this, 
so "upgrade libreadline" should also help, indirectly.)
