libz is new, for compressed savegames.
Anyone, is there a command line option to turn it off?

I have downloaded, compiled and installed libz a long time ago on
HP-UX. All those Linux boxes are provided with it by default (I use
Linux at home, where I play FreeCiv).

configure problem, I guess.

Would be nice to know whether those Solaris boxes you are using have
libz somewhere or not. If so, is it a shared or a static library?

(I hope we're not heading towards libtool and all nightmares I've seen
with that on HP-UX... That OS seems to hate shared libraries :-( )
