Subject: [Freeciv-Dev] some bugs someone kindly reported
From: Lalo Martins <lalo@xxxxxxxxxx>

Some guy was so kind to report 6 bugs today to the Debian
BTS... I'd like to submit them to comments before I re-submit
them again to the Freeciv BTS.

No, that's a cheap excuse :-) Real story: I have to take a bath
and go out to have lunch and a movie with a rather nice girl,
so I'm sending these to the list just to feel better about not
reporting them or packaging 1.9.0. I promise to do both of
these things on the weekend. _After_ my date. ;-)

Note that all bugs are for package ``freeciv-gtk''. That
probably isn't right, I'll have to distill what bugs are
GTK-client bugs and what are generic.

All are From: Mikolaj Konarski <mikon@xxxxxxxxxxxx>. 48024
looks like two different, unrelated bugs to me...

Subject: Bug#48014: freeciv-gtk: units onboard seen after reloading game
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

I can see an aneny trireme or caravel. Then I quit the game, restart,
reconnect and now I can see a sentried catapult or a settler, wchich is
onboard of that ship, until it moves again.

Subject: Bug#48015: freeciv-gtk: popping up cities centers map
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

In options I have "no centering map on popup city". And so it works,
when I popup a city from the main map. But when I popup from
the city report the map centers on that city.

Subject: Bug#48024: freeciv-gtk: mysterious errors and core
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

Sometimes when I popoup city windows form the main map,
they are instatnly moved some way up and left and then stay still.

Also the client sometimes gives:

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 992 (gtk_window_realize): assertion
`!GTK_WIDGET_REALIZED (widget)' failed.

once:

~/experimental/civ/save$ civ -tiles engels

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 992 (gtk_window_realize): assertion
`!GTK_WIDGET_REALIZED (widget)' failed.

    Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 992 (gtk_window_realize): assertion
`!GTK_WIDGET_REALIZED (widget)' failed.

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 992 (gtk_window_realize): assertion
`!GTK_WIDGET_REALIZED (widget)' failed.
1: lost connection to server
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
~/experimental/civ/save$

Sometimes, especially when buing things, the server gets

Game saved as civgame-500.sav
>
1: received bad string in packet (type 18, len 53) from bratek

Subject: Bug#48019: freeciv-gtk: enlarging map over output win cannot be
reversed
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

When I elarge the main map maximally, so that of the output window only the
input line is visible, I effectively loose the output window.
I cannot resize the output window or the map again, I cannot "extract"
the window, etc.

Subject: Bug#48020: freeciv-gtk: reports not refreshed after reload
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

The science, trade and military reports are not refreshed after quiting
the game, restarting the game and connecting again.

Subject: Bug#48016: freeciv-gtk: help disappears when connecting
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

The help window disappears when connecting. So I have to resize and place it
nicely over and over again after reloads.

Subject: Bug#48023: freeciv-gtk:
Package: freeciv-gtk
Version: 1.8.1+cvs19991010

There is no option to put the message about researching new tech
into the message win, or the output win, or a dialog.
The only way to avoid those annoing dialogs to appear
is to open tech report and place it somewhere forever.
