I think it would be nice to have (at least) two kinds of AIs here...
One that would indeed try every trick to stop You from winning and thus
giving You a greater challenge strategygame-wise...
And another who doesn't, one who is more of a roleplaying AI...
I have always liked the roleplaying factor of the kind of
simulationgame that freeciv is...
Master of Orion (II) is a really nice example...

Well, that's just some cheap talk... :)
