There are at least two reasons why Freeciv should and will continue
despite CTP's Linux port:

1) Civilization should be free.

2) Not everyone is using Linux (or Win32).  Freeciv will run on a much
   wider variety of platforms.

Well, I doubt we'll be able to implement all the features of CTP within
Freeciv, without making it into two nearly separate games.  CTP is going
to add a *lot* of new, fundamentally different functionality.
