KDE 1.1 is buggy.  On a few other lists that I'm on, everybody is saying
"hey, what's wrong with <whatever the program is>?  Is this related to the
fact that I now run KDE 1.1?".  The hilighted text is probably something to
do with your colourmap.  Are you running in 8 bit color?  Is FreeCiv
obtaining a private colourmap when it runs?
