Yes, it seems that Jan-30 snapshot (hopefully only that one) was 
corrupt.  Agreed its not a bzip2 problem (at least not directly), 
because the diff appears to be ok as a diff (but creates a
corrupt snapshot) and the Jan-31-Feb-01 diff undoes all the junk
created by the Jan-30-Jan-31 diff.
