Have you found the solution to your problem?
If not, could you post a few more details of the symptoms?
On my Suse 10.1 box sshd is configured using /etc/ssh/sshd_config.
The only things I have set related to sshd login that deviate from the
default settings are:

PasswordAuthentication no
UsePAM yes
