I would hate to see the aclug site gone. I do agree that it has been =
very
dead this year. There have been several times I've posted questions =
only to
never get an answer. I've been infected with linux ever since the =
install
day. We put it on my 486-25 laptop, actually that laptop still sits in =
my
closet! Dual boots with w-95. I would like to see more activity on the
site. I went from robotic engineer to cement truck driver after an
unexpected job ending, so I have been pre-occupied with job hunting, but =
as
soon as my life is stable, I plan on going back to the meetings.

Hi All,
My name is Mark Chadwick and I've been on the aclug mailing list for a
couple of months now and have wanted to make it to a meeting but my job
has prevented me from attending. I'm a software engineer on the Airborne
Laser project and moved to Wichita over a year ago supposedly on
temporary assignement but my wife and I liked Wichita so much that we
decided to stay. Now I just need to find some local employment to get
me off this crazy ABL ride. I have a couple of good leads on jobs in
Wichita but unfortunately until I do find something I will be on travel
between the Boeing Wichita plant and Edwards AFB in California. I'm
acutally in California right now until the 19th (that's why I couldn't
make Monday's meeting.)
All that said, I would like to offer to be a contact for the domain. I
was also thinking that a MediaWiki (www.mediawiki.org, it's the same
flavor of wiki that Wikipedia uses) installation might be a good tool
to encourage more use of the aclug website. It would be a nice
interface for people to put up their linux related notes or tutorials
to share as each of us works through whatever installations or projects
we're working on. I'd also be willing to do the installation and manage
the user accounts if it was decided that a wiki installation would be
useful. I've actually setup MediaWiki on my personal website and use it
as my 'homepage' for all my frequently used links:
www.chadwickfamily.org/wiki
I would understand if you all would like to meet me first before
trusting me as the domain contact. Hopefully my work situation will
settle out quickly and I can make it to the next meeting! :)
Thanks,
- Mark
P.S. As of right now I'm primarily a Suse w/KDE enthusiast, but I'm
partial to anything linux!
