i have "PHP and MySQL Web Development" and think it's a pretty good book (i
will admit, i've barely cracked the cover, thanks to all the online
resources) ... i'm developing with PHP/MySQL and PyGTK/MySQL at work on a
project (www.timeips.com) and rarely use any resources other than
online ... i've been coding w/ PHP for about 5 or so years so far and
here are some of the online resources i frequent:

www.php.net - the ultimate resource for PHP
www.mysql.com - ditto for MySQL
www.devshed.com - helpful examples of how to do common things (online
store, authentication, sessions, etc)
www.google.com - if i can't find it above, i find it on google

yup, it's called Vim ;)

many advanced editors have syntax hiliting support for PHP and MySQL (along
w/ HTML, JavaScript, and CSS for the web end) ... i prefer Vim, but others
include Kate, Kwrite, Eric3 (i believe, barely used it and it was mostly
for python), and surely emacs as well (tho' i can't say for sure) ...
