Of course that seems natural. I've not used lame, prefering XMMS
instead. I will try that.

XCDRoast seems to only want to deal with .wav anyway so that is the
format I really wanted. However, I specified .cdr so I would steered
toward a utility that decoded to 44.1 kHz 2 channel audio.
