Sounds like I'd quit buying that model.

Subject: [aclug-L] netgear ds108 hubs

Hi,

I had a Netgear DS-108 hub crap out on me this morning -- looks like
no power through the transformer. I've replaced it, so it's either
going into the trash or the growing pile of dysfunctional electronics
I haven't been able to bring myself to trashing. It occurs to me that
if it's just the transformer, someone might be able to get some good
out of it: the transformer is 5V, 3A. (The newer models are 12V, 1.2A,
despite the same model number. They are 8 port, 10/100 auto sensing.)

A quick look through the junk pile reveals another Netgear DS-108,
with basically the same problem (also 5V, 3A). If anyone wants one
(or both) of these hubs, let me know.

Speaking of the junk pile, I think there'd be a (very small) business
opportunity for someone to set up a consignment recycling/salvage
business for computers and electronics.
