To add to this, converting from AUI to 10baseT is more than building a
cable. There are some electronics involved. I'm not sure how complex
it is, and if it would be feasible to build one. If you are an
electronics enthusiast and want to do it just because, then you might
be able to find some schematics and documentation someplace. But if
your goal is simply to save money, get a different network card. That
would likely be cheaper than the AUI adapter. Some of the used
computer sales and stores around are good sources for those things.
