Okay, once upon a time I got a machine working with two NICs. One a PCI
card using a Tulip driver and the other a ISA card using a NE2000 compatable
driver. I have been using it to masquerade through to the internet.

Well, I need to upgrade that machine and extend its capabilities. As a result
I am trying to accomplish the same thing with a less potent machine. I installed
the second NIC and did a fresh install of RedHat 6.0. It detected the PCI/Tulip
card during install and allowed it to be set up as eth0.

Now I am trying to get it to see the ISA/NE2000 card and haven't been able to
get it to see it. I even recompiled a kernel, making sure to set up the NE2000 as
a module. During the boot up it starts up eth0 (pci) fine and then delays the
initialization of eth1 (isa) and then fails.

I seem to recall something about needing to initialize the NE2000 module before
the eth1 tries to initialize. I must not have made any notes when I did it on the first machine, as I can't locate them now. I thought about trying to reinstall with
only the ISA card in and seeing if I can get it to work and then add the PCI
card and the Tulip driver as a module. I have a vague recollection that is how
it went the first time.

If anyone could offer some assistance or a source of information on this
dilemma, I would be extremely appreciative.

Many thanks,

wayne
