Why would you want to use satellite? (I'm assuming you mean using a dish
for receiving and dial-up for sending.) It might have a high bandwidth for
downloading large files - large TCP/IP packets - but sending data that
distance means a much greater response time for any communication your
computer needs to make.

If you live in the Wichita area, you might want to see if you qualify for
DSL or cable modem access. Those are both methods for faster access, and
both work with Linux.
