Well, I just want to know what's wrong with the Debian project and their
Linux distribution...I mean what "fun" is it when a distro WORKS OUT OF
THE BOX?!

I mean even if I had installed the latest version of Slackware (the
distro I started with) I would have spent several hours getting ppp
setup to the point of logging in, while the Debian install managed to
configure the PCMCIA modem and ppp just by asking simple questions of
me. I was up and running in no time and dialing in to my ISP worked the
second time I tried it. The second time you say? Well, the first time
I didn't have the phone cord seated fully into the modem jack... :-O Oh
yeah, I noticed that unnecessary inetd services aren't running unlike
Slack which started everything in the book.

Hats off to everyone in the Debian project. This is a fine work and
while I'm still downloading packages, I can see already this
distribution reeks of quality and forethought. I'm sure getting X to
work on the laptop will be a bit intersting, but maybe this will work as
smooth as silk. I'm hooked.
