Well, the usual places where I connect from don't have the same X setup.
The computer in my office is an old NeXT station with its own GUI, and I
either use telnet at home, or if I boot into Linux, I don't have X running
on Linux at home at this point. Besides, a GUI isn't important to me for
this purpose, unless that's the only option available.

As I seem to recall, some OSes do quit well, even when used without a GUI.  ;-)
