In my experience, Digicom only makes software-driven modems (i.e.
Winmodems).  I have dealt with a number of Digicom modems in working at
SouthWind, and have had a number of problems with them, not to mention
that I can find very little or no information about them, driver updates,
etc, on the 'net.  I would strongly suggest staying away from a Digicom
modem.

If your friend needs a cheap modem, try getting one used--check usenet, or
go to Command Computer Surplus (way out on west Kellogg--check the yellow
pages).
