Well  after much trial and effort we are up and going.  I had to call
the dial up network for help on the configuration, (they also are based
on a linux system).

I ended up using isapnp tools (from the man pages) [thanks John for the
advice on printing them out] Then configured minicom, (after I figured
you got to:ln -s /dev/cua1 /dev/modem )  Once I got that then I set up
my domain and network, and then netscape found it own way home!
