i'm still looking at hardware problems.
i bought a crossover cable for the two machines instead of a hub.
i would probably get a hub when i need to start adding more machines.
i'm starting to wonder if this is really a cross over cable.
any one have a schematic so i could take a ohm meter and test it?
also the older smc autodetected as a wd8003 - wd8013 compatable.
is this good or bad?
i suspect that things are a mess right now.
i've been taking too much advice from too many different places.
i did notice that when i did the ifconfig on the second machine that
it did not give any errors.
would this indicate a bad card?
