I went ahead and tried that, and everything worked fine.  Unfortunately, I
have the downloaded version, not the CD version, so... no HTML file, just a
PDF, and two wasted days downloading...

Use "custom install" (which selects everything) and allows you to set
the directory to install it in.  Change the default install directory
and you are on your way.  (I choose /usr/local/StarOffice*, but some
would sudjest /opt/StarOffice* ).
Also... Look on the CD for the directory named "documentation" or
something... There is an HTML install instructions there that is quit
good (even if it leavs out how to use the older libc...).
Just open it in netscape to look at it. (They have it in German too!).
You think your box was slow... Try it on a 486/33...  Took quite some
time to install it...
